Dear Winters Chapel UMC Family,

Our North Georgia Conference Leadership Team met yesterday and announced that the closure decision for all churches regarding worship services and on-site group activities will remain in place until April 30, 2020. The next NGUMC advisement will occur on April 27, 2020.

Last week, Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson shared a video message with all North Georgia United Methodists, and you can click here to watch the video.

In this 21 minute video, Bishop Sue shares “a few thoughts in this time of craziness on how to be the church in new, different and creative ways.” She reminds us of her “mantra for life” which is: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” For a wonderful list of the characteristics of our known God, she reads Psalm 145, which includes: “The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” And she reminds us to be “grace-filled, merciful and kind to each other in these difficult times.”

Regarding Holy Week and Easter Sunday, Bishop Sue shared this message: “I want you to consider that whatever day we gather together again, in person, I think we can celebrate it as a Resurrection Sunday. . . We can pull out all the stops then and we know that it will come.”

Finally, she asks that “if you don’t have to be together, don’t be together. Let’s make health the priority. Even in a group of ten, if one of the ten is vulnerable, then please consider not meeting in person.”

A few reminders for our Winters Chapel UMC Family:

• Please continue to worship with us each week. The links to each of our weekly online Sunday worship services (which began on Sunday, March 15th) can be found on our website (www.winterschapel.org) and our Facebook page - Winters Chapel UMC.

• We are trying different video platforms to gather for our Wednesday morning bible study; please let us know if you would like to receive a link to join us for Christ Walk at 10:30 am.

• Please continue to send your prayer requests to Pastor Pedro or to the church office (770-396-4550) so that we can pray together as a church community.

• The church office is open Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. You can call the church office with any questions, and you can mail us or drop-off your pledges and/or donations each week.

• Thank you again for your generous contributions that have allowed us to keep the food pantry open. This has been a critical help to needy families in our community during this difficult time.

We pray for all public health and hospital personnel, all researchers and all leaders who are responsible for securing the health of the public. May they be extensions of the healing hand of Christ. We pray without ceasing for all who are sick and suffering as we ask for God’s comfort, strength and healing.
